Job openings at Washington County Fair

TOWN OF POLK - The Washington County Fair is looking for help and it’ll pay minimum wage $7.25. “Unfortunately, our volunteer list for this year has been exhausted and we are in need of additional help,” said Fair Manager Sandy Lang.

Open positions include wristband checkers, ticket seller, and somebody with cash handling experience and good math skills. Lang said the heat may have scared some volunteers away. “Age is a factor with some of our volunteers and others have moved so we’re putting out an S.O.S. for help,” she said. Touring the Father Rehrl rectory in West Bend

WEST BEND - On Tuesday, July 17 the Washington County Historical Society is inviting neighbors to tour the restored St. Agnes site including Father Rehrl’s Rectory and the original convent. Volunteers from the Historical Society and the Knights of Columbus have been working on the projects.

The presentation gets underway at 7 p.m.  Rare objects on display will include a chalice belonging to Father Rehrl, his paten (held the host) and a book. Those items are on loan from the Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac. Root beer floats and other refreshments will be served.

The WCHS has also secured a $2,000 grant from Agnesians Caring Through Sharing (ACTS) to help towards the completion of the rectory, the exhibition, and programming. The old St. Agnes convent, 1386 Fond du Lac St., is located under the blue water tower in West Bend (Barton).
